
Building Ontario Fund
The Opportunity
Headquartered in Toronto, the Building Ontario Fund (BOF) is a new independent, board-governed agency that will facilitate investment by trusted institutional investors in critically needed large-scale infrastructure projects within the province.
The agency’s mandate is to invest in, and seek to attract investment from, qualified institutional investors, public sector entities, governments, and Indigenous communities in Ontario infrastructure projects that will generate revenue and are in the public’s interest. BOF will do this by:
- Investing in infrastructure and appropriately allocating risks amongst the Corporation and other investors
- Structuring proposals and negotiating agreements with investors in infrastructure projects
- Receiving and assessing unsolicited ideas and proposals for infrastructure
- Providing advisory services with respect to financing infrastructure projects
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Partnerships, the Senior Associate, Partnerships:
- Supports the development and implementation of BOF’s stakeholder engagement strategy by researching and collaborating with institutional investors, government ministries and agencies, and project proponents.
- Applies knowledge of BOF’s investor base and project proponents in priority sectors to share insights internally that will inform ongoing investor engagement.
- Plans and facilitates roundtables across priority sectors that include institutional investors, government ministries and agencies, and project proponents.
- Supports the investment team with investor inquiries, addressing questions, concerns, and feedback promptly. Coordinates with internal teams to ensure investors are provided with timely and accurate information.
- Plans and leads research and intelligence gathering on market trends and economic conditions to assess short and long-term trends.
- Helps improve BOF’s competitive position for attracting investors by developing informed and measured opinions and recommendations based on research results, including the review and analysis of institutional investor statements of investment priorities and asset mix.
- Helps prepare and deliver regular reports and performance updates for BOF stakeholders. Maintains knowledge of market trends to adjust strategies and improve engagement efforts.
- Leads the preparation of briefing materials for senior management and investment teams ahead of investor and stakeholder meetings, providing them with in-depth background research and tailored talking points.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams across BOF to support strategic initiatives, active investment projects, and stakeholder engagements.
- Tracks partnership performance against defined KPIs and key metrics and provides data-driven reports on partnership impact and insights. Continuously refines investor relations strategies based on feedback and performance analysis.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Economics, Accounting or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 – 7 years of experience in the financial sector (i.e., investment banking) cultivating and leveraging strategic investor partnerships.
- Familiarity with government and/or Building Ontario Fund priority sectors an asset.

- Advanced knowledge of new and innovative engagement processes, better practices, tools and techniques.
- Knowledge of financial analysis techniques and methodologies to examine, summarize, and interpret business and financial models and statements.
- Strong relationship building skills with a focus on multi-investor relationships and partnership development.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy and discretion.
- Market research and evaluation skills as well as the ability to analyze and interpret various types of financial data and market trends.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and market trends.
- Collaboration skills to influence and work with diverse internal stakeholders, including finance, legal, and senior management.
- Analytical skills to analyze market trends and performance metrics to drive data-based decision-making.
- Ability to develop and execute investor relations strategies that align with broader BOF objectives.
- Leadership skills and the ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with investors and stakeholders.
- Prioritization and organization skills and the ability to effectively managing multiple deliverables simultaneously.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex financial and business information and create clear, compelling investor materials backed by thorough analysis.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams) and other internal applications, as required.
