Williams Treaties First Nations (WTFN) investment in OPG’s Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP)

Project details WTFN is investing $700 million to secure a future ownership position in DNNP. WTFN’s investment is funded by a loan from a syndicate of Canadian financial institutions supported by a loan guarantee from the Canadian Indigenous Loan Guarantee Corporation (CILGC), in which the Province of Ontario (through the Indigenous Opportunities Financing Program, managed by Building Ontario Fund) is a 50 percent participating guarantor.
Project partners First Nations of Alderville, Curve Lake, Hiawatha, Mississaugas of Scugog Island, Beausoleil, Chippewas of Georgina Island and Chippewas of Rama, OPG, CILGC and a syndicate of Canadian lenders.
Financial Guarantee value Up to $358 million (half of a CILGC guarantee)

Project details IOFP loan guarantee issued to support investment from Bamkushwada LP (representing six First Nations) into a 450-kilometre, 230-kV double-circuit transmission line – operational since 2022 – between Wawa and the municipality of Shuniah (near Thunder Bay), Ontario.
